Alex Haley

Alexander Murray Palmer Haley was an American writer best known for his 1976 book, Roots: The Saga of an American Family, which inspired widespread interest in genealogy. His career began with the 1965 publication of The Autobiography of Malcolm X, a collaborative work based on extensive interviews. The television adaptation of Roots reached a record-breaking audience and significantly increased public awareness of Black American history.
