1. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Platform. It may include information you provide, information generated through your use, and information received from service providers or other users.

Information you provide

• Account and profile information, including your name, username, email address, profile image, biography, and preferences
• Library and marketplace information, including book records, photographs, descriptions, condition, provenance, prices, listings, offers, order details, and collection notes
• Transaction and fulfillment information, including billing contact details, shipping addresses, tracking information, refunds, disputes, and tax-related information
• Communications, including messages between users, support requests, survey responses, reports, and feedback
• Content submitted to search, cataloging, image-recognition, recommendation, valuation, or other automated and artificial intelligence features

2. Information from other sources

If you sign in through Apple, Google, or another provider, we receive the information you authorize that provider to share, which may include your name, email address, profile image, and account identifier.

We may receive transaction, identity-verification, fraud-prevention, payment, shipping, and tax information from processors and other service providers. We may also receive book metadata, availability, pricing, and public information from publishers, booksellers, data licensors, public sources, integrations, and other users.

3. Information collected automatically

When you use the Platform, we and our service providers may automatically collect IP address, device and browser information, operating system, language, approximate location derived from IP address, referral URLs, pages viewed, searches, clicks, session activity, timestamps, cookie identifiers, crash data, and diagnostic logs.

We use cookies, local storage, pixels, software development kits, and similar technologies to operate the Platform, maintain sessions, remember preferences, measure performance, prevent fraud, and understand usage.

4. How we use information

We use information to create and administer accounts; provide libraries, profiles, search, recommendations, cataloging, valuation, marketplace, messaging, payment, shipping, and support features; personalize content; process and document transactions; communicate service notices and, where permitted, marketing; troubleshoot and improve the Platform; develop new features; enforce our terms; protect users and the Platform; detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and illegal activity; comply with law; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

We may combine information collected from different sources and create aggregated or deidentified information. We may use and disclose information that cannot reasonably identify you as permitted by law and will not attempt to reidentify it except to test our deidentification processes or as otherwise permitted by law.

5. Artificial intelligence and automated features

The Platform may use machine learning, image recognition, large language models, recommendation systems, and other automated tools to identify books, extract metadata, generate or suggest descriptions, organize collections, estimate values, detect fraud, moderate content, and provide search or support features.

Information you submit to these features, including text, images, book metadata, and related context, may be processed by 2manybooks and specialized service providers to generate results, maintain safety, evaluate quality, and improve the relevant feature. Automated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or generated from third-party information. Do not submit sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for the requested feature.

Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent for materially different uses of personal information in automated decision-making. You may contact us to ask about an automated result that significantly affects you.

6. Payments and identity checks

Payment card and bank-account information is submitted directly to payment processors such as Stripe. 2manybooks generally receives transaction identifiers, payment status, limited payment-method details, and information needed for accounting, refunds, fraud prevention, and support rather than complete card or bank credentials.

Payment, identity, tax, and fraud-prevention providers process information under their own privacy policies and may independently determine how they use information to satisfy legal and regulatory obligations.

7. How we disclose information

We may disclose information to vendors and contractors that provide hosting, storage, analytics, authentication, communications, customer support, artificial intelligence, content moderation, payments, fraud prevention, tax, shipping, and other operational services.

We disclose information to buyers and sellers as needed to display listings, communicate, complete purchases, deliver items, handle returns, and resolve disputes. Public profiles, listings, reviews, and other content you choose to publish may be visible to anyone and may be copied or indexed outside our control.

We may disclose information to professional advisers, auditors, insurers, financing sources, and parties to an actual or proposed merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets. We may also disclose information when we reasonably believe it is required by law or necessary to enforce agreements, investigate misuse, prevent harm, or protect rights, property, safety, and security.

8. Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising

We do not sell personal information for money. Some privacy laws define disclosures for cross-context behavioral advertising or certain analytics activities as a sale or sharing even when no money is exchanged. If we engage in activity covered by those definitions, we will provide the notices and opt-out methods required by applicable law.

You can manage nonessential cookies through available cookie controls and supported browser settings. Browser-based global privacy signals are honored where required by applicable law.

9. Cookies and communications

Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, but doing so may prevent account, preference, security, or marketplace features from working correctly. Where available, use our cookie controls to manage nonessential technologies.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message. We may still send transactional, security, legal, and other non-promotional communications related to your account or activity.

10. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Platform, maintaining transaction and tax records, preventing fraud, enforcing agreements, resolving disputes, protecting legal rights, and complying with law. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, account status, sensitivity, legal requirements, and operational need.

Deleting an account may not immediately remove information from backups, transaction records, fraud-prevention systems, legal holds, or content retained by other users. We may retain aggregated or deidentified information as permitted by law.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, taking into account its nature and the risks involved. No storage or transmission system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration will never occur.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, using a unique password, securing your devices, and promptly notifying us of suspected unauthorized account activity.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and subject to legal exceptions, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; obtain a portable copy; withdraw consent; opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, profiling, or marketing; and appeal a denied request.

Submit a request to privacy@2manybooks.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

13. International processing

2manybooks and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms or other appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

14. Children

The Platform is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this policy, contact privacy@2manybooks.com.

15. Third-party services

The Platform may link to or integrate with third-party websites, applications, payment processors, shipping providers, social networks, booksellers, or other services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this policy, and 2manybooks is not responsible for their independent practices.

16. Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Platform, our practices, or applicable law. We will post the revised policy and update the "Last revised" date. We will provide additional notice when required by law.
