Marketplace take-rate and optional creator subscription economics.
2manybooks is free to browse, catalog, and organize a personal library. Marketplace selling uses a platform fee when an order is created through verified flows.
Amounts below describe current product logic. Payment-processor fees, shipping, taxes, and any future subscriptions can change and will be shown in checkout or account settings when they apply.
1. Free collector tools
Creating an account, adding books, managing copies, building shelves, following collectors, and using discovery tools do not require a paid subscription today.
Optional creator or premium subscriptions are not generally available. If they launch, this page will be updated before charges begin.
Included without a subscription
- Personal library cataloging and copy notes.
- Search, browse, and public profile features that are enabled for your account.
- Dashboard insights based on your collection data.
- Help Center and Documentation access.
2. Marketplace platform fee
When a buyer creates an order from an active listing, 2manybooks calculates a platform fee of 5% of the listing price. That fee is stored on the order as the platform share of the transaction.
The seller’s net proceeds are the order amount minus the platform fee, any affiliate fee recorded on the order, and amounts retained or charged by payment processors under their own rules.
Example
- Listing price: $100.00.
- Platform fee at 5%: $5.00.
- Remaining amount before processor and shipping costs: $95.00.
3. What the fee does not cover
The platform fee is separate from shipping labels, packaging, insurance, payment-network fees, currency conversion, chargebacks, and taxes. Those costs are determined by carriers, processors, tax rules, and the parties to the sale.
Buyers should review the full amount due at checkout. Sellers should confirm payout timing and connected-account requirements during seller setup.
4. Listing and verification requirements
Selling through verified flows requires seller verification and accurate listing details. Listings need a valid asking price, binding or format, and a condition note so buyers know what they are purchasing.
Completing verification does not guarantee sales, payouts, or approval of every listing. Fraud, prohibited items, or policy violations can still lead to removal or account action.
5. Estimates versus sale prices
Catalog estimates on book pages and the dashboard are informational market signals. They are not asking prices, appraisals, or insurance values.
Sellers set their own listing prices. Buyers pay the agreed listing amount plus any checkout charges displayed for that order.
6. Changes and questions
Fee percentages, eligibility, and optional paid plans may change. Material changes will be reflected here and, where required, in product notices or the Terms of Service.
